Celebrating 15 Years Serving Our Community!

Excellent team of professionals. Dr. Davis is so warm and friendly. The dentist can be scary for kids and that was never the case going to Healthy Smiles. 10 out of 10.
Our 2 YO and 13 YO love it here.
Very friendly stuff and very efficient Dr Davis was amazing 🤩
They were very friendly and the played with my kiddo while I filled out paperwork.
Dr Mila Davis is an awesome dentist.....my child went in for a tooth extraction and was very nervous due to a bad experience at a previous practice. My child was treated with positivity and praise and said that she could barely feel anything during the procedure. She left feeling much better about visiting the dentist. Thank you so much. You are appreciated.

Frisco, TX, dentist offers checkups for kids

Did you know that your child’s first dentist visit should coincide with their first few baby teeth erupting? This initial visit can help ensure that their smiles are healthy and developing properly. The team at Healthy Smiles Children’s Dentistry in Frisco, TX, offers dental checkups for kids, so you can bring your little one in for their visits here and reduce the chances of dental phobia in the future. In our blog today, we’re here to talk about the importance of regular dental care.

Your Child’s First Visit

The first dental cleaning and examination is an important step in your child’s oral health care. When you bring them in for their appointment, the team will greet you and your little one. We’ll get to know you and then review your family’s health history. Next, we will conduct a gentle examination to assess the health of their teeth, gums, and overall smile. During this time, we can also address any concerns you may have with your little one’s oral health. If you have any questions about proper brushing for your young child, pacifiers, toothpaste recommendations, or more, our team may be able to help. After this, you can bring your child in for a checkup every six months.

Early Orthodontic Evaluation

Your child will need to continue visiting the dentist every six months as they grow up and into adulthood as well. In addition to regular dental visits, they should also visit the orthodontist for the first evaluation around the age of 7 years old. While this can seem quite early, a consultation at this age can help plan any necessary orthodontic treatments and guide jaw development before starting braces. During their consultation, the dentist may take X-rays and then perform a thorough examination of their teeth. Some interceptive treatments, such as spacers or expanders, may be necessary before braces can begin to ensure there is enough space for the teeth to shift.

Providing Treatments for Special Needs Children

In many circumstances, children with special needs may need extra assistance and support with their oral hygiene routine. Our team offers compassionate care for all of our patients, including our patients with special needs. When you bring in your child, we will help them feel comfortable in the office before starting their cleaning and examination. If your little one needs additional protection for their smiles, we may offer fluoride treatments or dental sealants. You can also call our office ahead of time to discuss specific needs before you bring your little one in for their visit.
