My kids love to come to the dentist here! They are so kind to the kids and gentle. The whole office from the lobby, to brushing and xrays they make it extra fun and special for all ages! My son left yesterday saying how fun it was there and couldn’t wait to go to school and tell his teacher and friends about his visit. Thank you for always checking on our kiddos teeth and making sure they want to keep up with the dentist with all the take home goodies!
My kids have been coming to Healthy Smiles for almost 14 years. Dr. Davis is great and so is the staff. Especially Sarai! Excellent patient care. Thank you!
The friendly staff made me and my children feel welcomed from the moment we walked in the office. The dentist, Dr. Davis was kind, patient, and an expertise in her field. The staff was equally amazing—helpful, attentive, and professional. They made what can be a dreadful and stressful experience feel easy and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Dr. Davis and her entire team of dental professionals give us a WOW experience each visit since pandemic when we began as new patients with them. Their office staff keep schools calendar handy, provide flexible appointments and only suggest science backed prevention and remedial dental treatments. Check out their patients sketched art gallery and game room. Floss the tooth you want to save.
I did my research in the area when my daughter came of age to see a dentist and landed on Healthy Smiles. 5 years later and I am still SO happy with my decision! This is the only dentist my daughters have ever been to because we are so happy with this practice. The dentist can be scary, but Healthy Smiles does what they can to make it less so for my girls. There is a welcoming, fun lobby. Kind employees. A TV screen to watch over the procedure chair. They say everything they are doing out loud to keep your kiddos informed. And a couple of fun little prizes for the brave patient when it is done. I 100% recommend this dentist for your kids.

Learn how to prepare for your child's first visit to a pediatric dentist in Frisco, TXStarting your child’s dental care early sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy teeth and confident smiles. Yet many parents aren’t sure when to schedule that first appointment or what to expect when they walk through the door. The good news is that a first dental visit for kids is far less intimidating than most families anticipate, especially when you choose the right provider. Healthy Smiles Children’s Dentistry makes every child feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease from the very first visit. They’re the perfect choice for a pediatric dentist in Frisco, TX.

When Should You Schedule Your Child’s First Dental Visit?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth erupting, whichever comes first. Many parents assume baby teeth don’t matter much since they eventually fall out, but that thinking can lead to preventable problems. Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth, support proper speech development, and allow children to chew comfortably. Protecting them from the start matters.

What Happens on the First Dental Visit for Children?

Your child’s first visit to a kids’ dentist in Frisco focuses more on relationship-building than intensive treatment. The dental team works at a gentle pace, allowing your child to get familiar with the sights, sounds, and sensations of the dental environment before anything else happens.

During the appointment, the dentist typically performs a gentle exam of your child’s teeth, gums, jaw, and bite. They check for early signs of decay, assess oral development, and look for habits, like thumb-sucking or pacifier use, that might affect how teeth develop. For older toddlers, a light cleaning and fluoride treatment may also take place during this first visit.

Just as importantly, the dentist takes time to educate parents. You’ll leave with practical guidance on brushing techniques, diet choices, teething, and how to make oral hygiene a positive daily routine at home.

How to Prepare Your Child for Their First Visit

Keep your language positive and simple in the days leading up to the appointment. Avoid words like “hurt,” “needle,” or “drill,” and instead frame the visit as an exciting chance to meet a friendly children’s dentist in Frisco who helps keep teeth strong and healthy. Arriving a few minutes early gives your child time to explore the waiting area and settle in before the appointment begins.
