Celebrating 16 Years Serving Our Community!

I did my research in the area when my daughter came of age to see a dentist and landed on Healthy Smiles. 5 years later and I am still SO happy with my decision! This is the only dentist my daughters have ever been to because we are so happy with this practice. The dentist can be scary, but Healthy Smiles does what they can to make it less so for my girls. There is a welcoming, fun lobby. Kind employees. A TV screen to watch over the procedure chair. They say everything they are doing out loud to keep your kiddos informed. And a couple of fun little prizes for the brave patient when it is done. I 100% recommend this dentist for your kids.
My kids love to come to the dentist here! They are so kind to the kids and gentle. The whole office from the lobby, to brushing and xrays they make it extra fun and special for all ages! My son left yesterday saying how fun it was there and couldn’t wait to go to school and tell his teacher and friends about his visit. Thank you for always checking on our kiddos teeth and making sure they want to keep up with the dentist with all the take home goodies!
My kids have been coming to Healthy Smiles for almost 14 years. Dr. Davis is great and so is the staff. Especially Sarai! Excellent patient care. Thank you!
Dr Davis and her staff give excellent dental care. My children have been patients for 5 years. We switched from a different dentist that seemed to push unnecessary expensive treatments. Dr Davis is more conservative and presents all treatment options with fair pricing .
We had a wonderful experience here for my daughter's cleaning and tooth extraction. The team was extremely patient and explained the process very clearly. They walked us through each and every step and were very gentle with the tooth extraction. This facility is highly recommended.

dental sealants in Frisco, TX

Cavities are one of the most common oral health problems patients face. No matter how excellent your oral hygiene routine is, you are bound to get at least one cavity in your lifetime. Although they are quite common and, in most cases, easily treatable, your team at Healthy Smiles Children’s Dentistry in Frisco, TX, offers additional preventive care like sealants, which may be able to reduce the chance of decay. In today’s blog, we will discuss this treatment in more detail.

Prevent Cavities At Home

Smile care starts at home, so if your child is frequently having cavities, you may need to evaluate what their at-home routine looks like. Since your little one is still developing fine motor skills, they may have trouble holding their toothbrush on their own or flossing properly. If you have been told by their dentist that your child is missing spots or consistently experiencing tooth decay, make sure to supervise them while they brush and floss to ensure they are hitting each area properly. In some cases, your little one may simply not enjoy this part of the routine and therefore struggle to do it properly each time. Make this routine more fun by doing it side-by-side with them or playing a fun song as they brush.

Using Sealants For Additional Protection

Cavities may most often appear on the surfaces they chew food on. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially if you do your best to help your kid properly brush and floss, but they are still experiencing decay. To prevent the need for several dental fillings each time they have a cavity, we may need to treat the area with extra precaution. One helpful way we can do this is by adding sealants to the area. This thin layer of resin is added to the top of the crown and has a high success rate for preventing cavities from forming.

Restorations When Cavities Happen

If your child is told that they have a cavity at their checkup, don’t panic—this is a totally normal part of life. You will need to bring them in to have the cavity filled as soon as possible to protect the decay from worsening. When they come in for their filling, we may use sedation to keep your little one comfortable during the treatment. The decay is carefully removed by your dentist, the space is cleaned, and then the stronger material is added in its place. The material can help seal the space from bacteria and prevent decay from entering the inner layers of your tooth.
