Celebrating 16 Years Serving Our Community!

Brought my daughter in for two extractions this morning and of course it had it's challenges. Dr. Davis and her staff were great with my little one, as they have always been. Due to nervous about the procedure, my daughter began vomiting after having breathe the nitrous for about a minute, after cleaning my daughter up and given her about 10 minutes to pull herself together; the procedure went very smoothly and quickly on the restart. Although still nervous once numb both extractions took less than 5 minutes, with my daughter only feeling pressure. Thank you Dr. Davis and staff! See you all in few moths for cleaning and check ups.
Efficiency in a Doctor's Office Redefined.... We’ve been seeing Dr. Davis for 15 years, and the level of care and efficiency has always been exceptional. Dr. Davis and her team operate like a NASCAR pit crew—highly coordinated, fast, and precise. From check-in and paperwork to X-rays and cleanings, the entire process runs smoothly with little to no waiting. Even with the quick pace, they never compromise on quality—each child receives careful, individualized attention. With three kids, we were in and out in under an hour—truly impressive!
It's such a wonderful environment. The ladies at healthy smiles always make my kids feel so comfortable. The doctor is so patient, and her experience definitely shows in her work. My kids love going to the dentist because of all the ladies at healthy smiles! ❤️
We absolutely LOVE Healthy Smiles! My daughter has been a patient since birth, and she'll be12 this year! We moved to Dallas 10 years ago, and we still commute over an hour for our appointments to date! We love the ENTIRE staff! Doctor Davis, Abigail, and Ms. Lynn are amazing 🤎
I was extremely disappointed for the first time with this place. My daughter has autism 1 and needs a little extra to get through appointments. She came in for a surface cavity fill and I felt like the doctor and the assistants did not try to make it fun for my daughter at all to help her anxiety through the process they jumped straight to telling me she would need to go to the hospital and be put under IV Anastasia to fill the cavity. They could have tried a little harder to make it fun and get through this quick procedure before jumping to putting her through a hospital experience. Not to mention I called a week prior to warn them she was autistic and would need that extra excitement experience to get through the fill. They told me no problem we deal with autistic children all the time and I feel like this is not a place to take your challenged children. We won’t be back unfortunately.

frisco dental cleaning

Over time, plaque and tartar buildup can form on little smiles and increase the risk of tooth decay and gingivitis, as well as bad breath and teeth stains. To fight this buildup and safeguard little smiles, we offer a routine dental cleaning. At your Frisco, TX, children’s dental practice, we can protect your child’s smile with a gentle and thorough dental cleaning.

The Causes of Plaque and Tartar

Over time, harmful oral bacteria will consume the particles left behind by the foods and drinks we consume, particularly the particles of sugar and starch. This process creates a bacterial byproduct known as plaque, which coats the teeth and over time, hardens into tartar. Brushing and flossing alone cannot remove the buildup, and the layers will grow in severity with time. Along with bad breath and teeth stains, the layers are linked to higher risk of tooth decay, infection, gingivitis, and even gum disease. To remove these layers, we recommend a cleaning visit as part of your child’s regular six-month checkup visit.

Dental Cleanings

The dental cleaning process involves our team gently and thoroughly removing all plaque and tartar buildup from the teeth and along the gum line, which is done with an ultrasonic scaling device, employing gentle vibrations to break up and remove the buildup. We also use a manual pick as part of the process. The procedure only takes a short amount of time, and we take steps to ensure your child feels comfortable and relaxed. Afterward, we will polish the teeth to make them brighter and limit how much plaque and tartar can adhere to them in between your regular six-month visits.

Proper Brushing and Flossing

Taking care of your child’s smile from home also limits the severity of plaque buildup and helps protect little smiles from tooth decay and gingivitis. You should make sure your child is brushing twice a day for two minutes, using an age-appropriate toothbrush and a fluoride toothpaste. Kids three and younger need a rice-sized amount of toothpaste, while kids over the age of three can use a pea-sized blot. Once there are teeth sitting side-by-side, be sure they are flossing too, as this removes what is beyond the reach of a toothbrush. If you have any questions about how to protect children from harmful layers of plaque and tartar, or if you want to schedule a visit for your little one, then contact our team today to learn more.
