The friendly staff made me and my children feel welcomed from the moment we walked in the office. The dentist, Dr. Davis was kind, patient, and an expertise in her field. The staff was equally amazing—helpful, attentive, and professional. They made what can be a dreadful and stressful experience feel easy and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Dr. Davis and her entire team of dental professionals give us a WOW experience each visit since pandemic when we began as new patients with them. Their office staff keep schools calendar handy, provide flexible appointments and only suggest science backed prevention and remedial dental treatments. Check out their patients sketched art gallery and game room. Floss the tooth you want to save.
Dr. Davis & her staff are absolutely wonderful, I’ve been a client for years. They are welcoming, have superb customer service & always treat us with kindness & respect. Highly recommend this dental office to friends and family.
I did my research in the area when my daughter came of age to see a dentist and landed on Healthy Smiles. 5 years later and I am still SO happy with my decision! This is the only dentist my daughters have ever been to because we are so happy with this practice. The dentist can be scary, but Healthy Smiles does what they can to make it less so for my girls. There is a welcoming, fun lobby. Kind employees. A TV screen to watch over the procedure chair. They say everything they are doing out loud to keep your kiddos informed. And a couple of fun little prizes for the brave patient when it is done. I 100% recommend this dentist for your kids.
May have been bringing my 5 children to Healthy Smiles for 14 years. That in itself says something but we all love Dr. Davis. Plus the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Here's what to look for in a special needs pediatric dentist in Frisco, TXFinding the right dental home for a child with special needs takes more than a quick online search. It requires a provider who combines clinical expertise with genuine patience, a sensory-aware environment, and the kind of compassionate communication that helps both children and parents feel at ease. If you are searching for a special needs pediatric dentist in Frisco, TX, this guide will help you know exactly what to look for.

What Is a Special Needs Dentist?

A special needs dentist is a provider trained to care for patients whose medical, physical, cognitive, or behavioral conditions require a modified approach to treatment. This includes children with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory processing disorders, and other developmental differences. The best providers do not simply accommodate these needs; they build their entire practice culture around them.

Key Qualities to Look For

When evaluating a dentist for an autistic child in Frisco or for any child with a developmental difference, prioritize the following:

Sensory-friendly environment. Finding a dentist for a child with sensory issues means paying close attention to the office itself. Look for practices that minimize harsh lighting, reduce noise, and offer a calm, predictable waiting area. Small environmental details make an enormous difference for sensory-sensitive children.

Experience with dental care for children with disabilities. Ask directly about the provider’s experience with your child’s specific diagnosis. A skilled team will speak confidently about adapted techniques, visual schedules, and desensitization strategies.

Sedation options. Sedation dentistry for special needs children allows providers to complete necessary care safely and comfortably when a child cannot tolerate treatment while awake. Confirm that the practice offers nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or general anesthesia as appropriate, and that staff hold the proper certifications.

Gentle, unhurried approach. A gentle pediatric dentist in Frisco will never rush a child through an appointment. Look for a team that schedules additional time, welcomes pre-visit tours, and follows the child’s lead during early appointments.

How to Prepare Your Child for the Dentist

Learning how to prepare a special needs child for the dentist starts well before appointment day. Use social stories, practice opening wide at home, and visit the office in advance to familiarize your child with the sights and sounds.

Consistent oral hygiene tips for special needs children, such as using a preferred toothbrush, a flavored toothpaste, or a visual timer, also reduce chair-side anxiety over time.
