Celebrating 16 Years Serving Our Community!

I did my research in the area when my daughter came of age to see a dentist and landed on Healthy Smiles. 5 years later and I am still SO happy with my decision! This is the only dentist my daughters have ever been to because we are so happy with this practice. The dentist can be scary, but Healthy Smiles does what they can to make it less so for my girls. There is a welcoming, fun lobby. Kind employees. A TV screen to watch over the procedure chair. They say everything they are doing out loud to keep your kiddos informed. And a couple of fun little prizes for the brave patient when it is done. I 100% recommend this dentist for your kids.
My kids love to come to the dentist here! They are so kind to the kids and gentle. The whole office from the lobby, to brushing and xrays they make it extra fun and special for all ages! My son left yesterday saying how fun it was there and couldn’t wait to go to school and tell his teacher and friends about his visit. Thank you for always checking on our kiddos teeth and making sure they want to keep up with the dentist with all the take home goodies!
My kids have been coming to Healthy Smiles for almost 14 years. Dr. Davis is great and so is the staff. Especially Sarai! Excellent patient care. Thank you!
Dr Davis and her staff give excellent dental care. My children have been patients for 5 years. We switched from a different dentist that seemed to push unnecessary expensive treatments. Dr Davis is more conservative and presents all treatment options with fair pricing .
We had a wonderful experience here for my daughter's cleaning and tooth extraction. The team was extremely patient and explained the process very clearly. They walked us through each and every step and were very gentle with the tooth extraction. This facility is highly recommended.

Discover where to find pediatric sedation dentistry in Frisco, TXDental anxiety affects children of all ages, and for some kids, even a routine cleaning feels overwhelming. If your child cries, refuses to open their mouth, or melts down before appointments, you’re not alone, and you have options. Pediatric sedation dentistry in Frisco, TX, provides anxious children with a safe, comfortable path through dental care, allowing them to receive the treatment they need without fear and stress.

What Are the Levels of Sedation for Children?

Pediatric dentists offer several sedation levels depending on your child’s age, anxiety level, and the complexity of the procedure.

Nitrous oxide, commonly called laughing gas, is the mildest and most widely used option. Laughing gas for kids’ dentistry works quickly, wears off within minutes after the mask is removed, and allows children to stay awake and responsive throughout the visit. It’s an excellent choice for mild to moderate anxiety.

Oral sedation involves a liquid or pill medication given before the appointment. Your child stays conscious but feels deeply relaxed and may have little memory of the visit afterward.

IV sedation for pediatric dentistry delivers medication directly into the bloodstream for a deeper level of sedation. Dentists typically reserve this option for children with severe anxiety, special needs, or extensive dental work. A trained professional monitors your child continuously throughout the procedure.

Is Sedation Dentistry Safe for a 5-Year-Old?

Yes, when administered by a qualified pediatric dentist, safe sedation dentistry for children is well-established and carefully regulated. Dentists evaluate each child’s health history, weight, and medical needs before recommending any sedation option. Parents should always disclose existing conditions and current medications at the consultation.

How to Prepare a Child for Dental Work

Preparation makes a significant difference. Talk about the appointment in calm, positive terms without using words like “shot” or “drill.” Read books about dentist visits together, practice opening wide at home, and arrive early so your child can adjust to the environment before the appointment begins. On sedation days, follow your dentist’s fasting instructions carefully.

How to Calm a Child at the Dentist

Stay calm yourself; children mirror parental energy. Bring a comfort item, offer praise throughout the visit, and avoid bribing with sugary treats afterward. A reward like a sticker or a trip to the park reinforces positive feelings about dental care.
